Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. We treat that as a working target rather than a finished achievement, and we test as we publish.

What we do

The following practices are built into how the site is made.

• Semantic headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate the page structure
• A skip to content link at the top of every page
• Keyboard access to every link, button, menu and form field, with a visible focus outline
• Descriptive alternative text on photographs
• Text that reflows and remains readable on small screens and at increased zoom
• Colour contrast checked against the level AA thresholds
• No content that flashes, auto plays or moves without the reader choosing it

Known limitations

Photographs are served from a third party image provider, so if that service is slow or blocked some images may not load. Text content is never dependent on an image.

Web fonts are loaded externally. If they fail, the site falls back to system fonts and remains fully readable.
