A first trip is mostly a sequence of small decisions in the right order. Here is the order.
The best first trip is usually closer and shorter than the one you are imagining. Two or three nights somewhere reachable teaches you almost everything a two week trip would.
Passport validity, visa requirements and ID rules decide what is possible. Do this before you fall in love with a destination.
Those two bookings make the trip real. Everything else can be decided later, and often better, once you are there.
A card that works abroad, a backup card, a little local cash and a plan for data. This removes most first day friction.
Take less than feels right. Keep documents, medication and chargers in your hand luggage.
One thing a day is enough. The moments people remember almost never appear on the itinerary.
